No-cost drop-in childcare at Marion and Polk County Courts

Childcare costs in Oregon are sometimes so high they take the service beyond the reach of parents. There are often little to no other childcare options available to a parent, so when they have to appear in court it is hard to find a place for the child to stay Because of the CourtCare program, parents and guardians who need to appear in court in Marion County or Polk County now have a viable option for their child’s care. Beginning September 5, 2017, Marion and Polk County will now be offering CourtCare to anyone conducting business with the courts.

Temporary Power of Attorney for Child Care

In Oregon, there is a law that allows a parent to grant temporary authority to another adult so they can care for their child. The parent or legal guardian needs to complete a power of attorney form. The power of attorney does not give the person caring for the child any permanent rights, such as the right to consent to marriage or the adoption of the child.
